For better or worse, scandal or praise, toxic or not... Ellen will be back.
Vuzu spokesperson Vuyiswa Dlodlo has confirmed the status of The Ellen Degeneres Show to TVSA following its disappearance on Vuzu last week.
Season 17 ended on Thursday (29 October) but Season 18 didn't start immediately after. It was replaced by a rebroadcast of The Kelly Clarkson Show instead, which aired on M-Net previously.
As a result we've been receiving queries asking what's happening with Ellen, especially because of the recent scandal involving allegations against Ellen and the production's top brass of staff mistreatment, racism and sexual harassment by executive producers.
In August three of the accused executive producers slid off the show like scum off soap and Season 18 started in America on 21 September with an apology monologue.
Some of what Ellen said:
"I learned that things happened here that should never have happened. I take that very seriously and I wanna say I'm so sorry to the people affected."
"I know that I'm in a position of priviledge and power and I realise that with that comes responsibility and I take responsibility for what happens at my show."
"We have made the necessary changes and today we're starting a new chapter."
Has Vuzu ditched the show because of this?
No. Vuyiswa tells us that Vuzu will definitely be airing the new season and that the schedulers are waiting for Ellen's studio to confirm a date for its premiere in South Africa.
Will be interesting to see if the season starts with the same episode that aired in America or if we'll see something else.
