Bio

Jacky Ido is a Burkinabe-born French film actor best known to English-language audiences for his role as Marcel, the film projectionist and cinematographer who executes Adolf Hitler and the upper echelons of the Nazi party, in Quentin Tarantino's 2009 war film Inglourious Basterds.

He is also known for his starring role as Leo Romba - a streetwise, Marseilles-born New York City taxi driver who agrees to partner with a NYPD detective and quickly becomes her personal driver, consultant and friend - in the action-comedy police procedural television series Taxi Brooklyn, based on the film Taxi written by Luc Besson.

Born in Burkina Faso, Ido has excelled in leading man roles throughout the world, whether they be in French, English or German. He can be seen in Salaud, on t'aime, directed by legendary French auteur Claude Lelouch, with whom Ido worked in 2010 on What Love May Bring (Ces Amours-la).

In March 2014 Ido co-starred in the German release of Christian Schwochow's Westen (West). Based on Julia Franck's novel Lagerfeuer and set before the fall of the Berlin Wall, the film details the travails and suspicions that follow a woman when she escapes from East Germany in the late 1970s.

Ido was the romantic lead in Nefertite Nguvu's Brooklyn-set relationship drama In the Morning.

Ido first made his mark as a Slam musician. Under the pseudonym John Pucc'Chocolat, he appeared on Grand Corps Malade's 2006 best-selling album Midi 20. They played a sell-out stadium tour throughout France and to 60,000 at Les Vieilles Charrues Festival.

But it was as an actor that Ido gained international recognition. His first role saw him star opposite Nina Hoss in The White Massai (Die weiße Massai), directed by Hermine Huntgeburth and adapted from the novel by Corinne Hoffman. Ido wowed as a Maasai warrior with whom a German tourist falls in love.

In 2012, Ido appeared in Lockout, opposite Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace. Lockout was based on an idea originally conceived by Taxi director Luc Besson.

Ido reunited with Huntgeburth in 2013 in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, where Ido played Jim, who befriends Huck Finn while on the run from slave owners.
