Disney+ is an American subscription streaming service available in South Africa which offers a selection of original production film and television series, as well as a library of titles from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic, among others.

Disney+ is an American subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming service owned and operated by the Media and Entertainment Distribution division of The Walt Disney Company.

The service primarily distributes films and television series produced by The Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Television, with dedicated content hubs for the brands Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic, as well as Star in some regions.

Original films and television series are also distributed on Disney+.

Launching in the USA on 12 November, 2019, the service launched in South Africa on 18 May, 2022.

The service offers an ever-growing collection of exclusive originals, including feature-length films, documentaries, live-action and animated series, and short-form content.

With unprecedented access to Disney's long history of film and television entertainment, Disney+ is also the exclusive streaming home for the newest releases from The Walt Disney Studios.

Through Star, it offers the latest from 20th Century Studios, Disney Television Studios, FX, Searchlight Pictures and more.

At launch on 18 May, 2022, subscribers had access to Star Wars' The Book of Boba Fett and both seasons of The Mandalorian.

In addition, Disney+ was the home of the entire Skywalker saga, with Star Wars Episodes 1 through 9 streaming on the service.

There was also access to over 60 Marvel films including Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings, Eternals, Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel, and over 80 Marvel series including Moon Knight, Loki and WandaVision.

In addition there were over 100 titles from Disney and Pixar, including the Toy Story franchise, Luca; and from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Encanto; and Cruella starring Emma Stone as the legendary Cruella de Vil.

National Geographic documentaries included The Rescue and Free Solo, alongside other National Geographic series such as The World According to Jeff Goldblum and Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted.

Titles available in general entertainment included the comedy series Only Murders in the Building, limited series Pam and Tommy, The Kardashians, Queens and mystery thriller Death on the Nile directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh.

Theer was also The Simpsons and back seasons of Grey's Anatomy, 9-1-1 and Black-ish.

Disney+ has features including four concurrent streams, 4k video quality for select titles and the ability to set up to seven different profiles, including the ability for parents to create pin-protected profiles, ensuring kids access age-appropriate content.
