John Michie is a Burmese-born British actor best known for his role as DI Robbie Ross on the Scottish detective television series Taggart, since 1998.
Although best known in Taggart for his role as DI Robbie Ross, in 1990 he featured in the episode Love Knot as a charming young climber who came under suspicion after a vicious murder.
John has been working across film, television and theatre since the early eighties. His film credits include the title role in Monk Dawson, To Walk with Lions (co-starring Richard Harris) and Conquest of the South Pole.
He has featured in various television series including the BBC's Moon and Son, ITV's The Bare Necessities, Truth or Dare, Ruth Rendell's Master of The Moor, Robson Green's Wire in the Blood, and has been playing a lead role in Taggart since 1998.
Though John was born in Burma, he was brought up in Edinburgh. He now lives in London with his wife, two daughters and a son.
