Monday World Re-lives Thandaza's Wedding

Makisto was on set when Muvhango filmed Thandaza's wedding in January. I had a ball on the set as you guys have seen with the interviews I have published. The filming was set to start at 8:00 but typical South African time took precedence and filming only started just after 10:00. "I had to have my beautiful morning sleep because I knew we wouldn't start rehearsing at 07:00, said Rapulana Seiphemo who only pitched after 11:00. No one complained though because he had no major lines, just two liners with James in the story.

During filming, I walk around and in one of the breaks during takes between Dingaan Mokebe (James) and Rapulana (Pheko), Rapulana says I will kiss James and I laugh together with the crew. Dingaan says, no, I am not gay. "But Senzo is kissing guys on Genrations, so you guys should also kiss," says Muvhango executive producer baba Duma Ndlovu.

Another thing that's worth mentioning is that Sindi is a terrific actress. In the church during vows, she perfected her vows scene in one take and as soon as the director said perfect, the church extras were clapping lol.

Now that I have said that, let's look at Thandaza's dress and marvel at these pictures. Carino will celebrate because she's been crying out foul that we never talk about Muvhango though the show's writers have upped their ante. I do know that Sana Lwam will throw her tantrums that I am writing about Muvhango once again. If Muvhango and Monday World bores, you are free to read other stories, phela TVSA spoils its readers for choice.

Posing for her camera
Sindi Dlathu asks co-star Themba to snap her in the dress. Makisto has it on good faith that this dress cost a whopping R47 000.00. It was made by Bridal Couture in Fourways. The dress is ivory and has a few beadings.

In the garden
Neo, Ranthumeng and James. Neo is played by Tsiloane Nketsi who is from Bleomfontein. He auditioned for the role of Ranthumeng and made it to the call backs in Jozi but never got the role. He tells me Muvhango told him they may want to use him in the future and indeed here they are using him. Isn't this just good for a guy who has no agent at all?

Makisto with Muvhangos
Makisto just had to pose with Ranthumeng and the Chief's wife lol. I hope the Chief will not do to me what he did to Pelo.

Lesotho Family
"No, these dresses are not Pedi, ke tsa Basotho from Lesotho," Lillian Dube (Mampho) tells me. "O mohlobo mang wena?" she asks me. "I'm Pedi," I reply.  "No wonder why o ntse o pota mona," she snaps and I lol while she exhales smoke from her cigarrette.

Brides maid
These dresses were imported from Brazil lol, Muvhango's wardrobe artist Dee Whayte told me.

Makisto with Muvhango girls
Carino will tell you that Nthabiseng (Meiki) tickles the skin behind Makisto's knee so this was a good excuse for me to feel those boobs lol. Sorry Denis Tau, but wena ke tlo go shapa ka stena one day.

Ranthumeng and Thandaza
How cute! Pheko must just stay away from this couple, please Muvhango writers, don't bore us this time ne. You will remember that this storyline was suggested my Makisto = Give us a happily married Thandaza toe, which I wrote last year. Perhaps I should send them my invoice lol. But as you guys have already seen in Muvhango March 2011 teasers, they will not be having their wedded bliss just yet.

Arriving in style
Down with traditional Muvhango of arriving at the wedding with donkeys. Thandaza just had to ask Meiki to drive her to the church with this convertible lol.

Ranthumeng and friends
Roses and lisianthis were a major part of the decoration. This is beautiful. This also was great in keeping with the theme of ivory as you lot could see with Ranthumeng's waist coat and Jacket.

Posed for Ranthumeng
I loved that scene when they showed Thandaza getting out of the car. Phela this is Muvhango's wedding of the year so it had to be classy.

Thandaza and her girls
Thandaza and her girls posing for Makisto in church garden

Mankosi
Mankosi (Cyntia Shange) had to look posh for the wedding.

Some girls have it all
I think here we guys can be understandably forgiven for wishing to kiss Thandaza's lips. Phela this is one beautiful lady ehe! Yesterday Shwashi said: "Mfundi (Generations executive producer), are you trying to create another Karabo (former Generatiosn's tragic heroine)  from actress Sindi Dlathu (who plays Muvhango's tragic heroine Thandaza)?" I was like jeepers creepers man, which TV does this Shwashi woman watch? Le teng, what happened to facts checking especially for something that's already out there? Shwashi, if you don't watch soapies, stop commenting about them!

Th back of the dress
The back of Thandaza's dress has a corset crystal  balsa detail

Miserable pheko
Pheko looking all miserable that the love of his life just married another man. Is it true that the raod to true love aint easy? Those who are married, did you marry your soul mate or you had to settle for some failry ok guy because true love is hard work and complicated?

Police van
When Muvhango does location shoots, they book the entire street. White people in the neighbourhood were irritated that the street was closed and they had to use alternative routes. That didn't sit quite well with them. Three hours into filming, they called the police to come and "rein in the 'film makers' lol" but Muvhango's location manager was only happy to issue (the police, as you can see approaching them police who came to check out what was happening) out accreditation from Norwood Police Station and some stuck up cow came and drove through the closed street and being the "family oriented" people that they are, Muvhango crew let cows be cows.

One big family
One big family and that's a wrap

I finally see Thandi's dress. Phela i dont wanna b left out. Its indeed gorgeous. DAMN 47grand!!!!!! Thats a good deposit for my Polo Vivo!

Awuwa Maki!!!! I've just visited the Basotho village in the North West & I have a similar photo wearing a Basotho attire. Agggggggg this is so sweeeet! I wish i can go back and spend another long weekend there.

Thandaza's mom luks sophisticated. I usually think of my mom whenever i watch Munyango.

some stuck up cow came and drove through the closed street and being the "family oriented" people that they are, Muvhango crew let cows be cows. hahahahahaha a cow will always be a cow. You can remove it from the kraal but it will always be a bull.

Lastly i think it was a beautiful wedding!

Makisto o ja chomi tlhe! LOL
I know what that means ms.tebby and you are not the first one to suggest that. People have a constitutional right to have opinions which may be wrong. You will be happy or disappointed to hear that as a journalist, one is required to know a little bit of everything because you never know where your next salary will come from.

Le teng, I have registered for my honours in journalism this year and our features and reviews module entail fashion, films, music, travel reviews, tabloid style, in-depth analysis news and all. So yeah, expect a more informed Makisto by the end of the year who will be telling you more on fashion such as strapless organza dress, and all. Sorry guys, I just had to say this. I don't care who says what, as long as my writing is not harmed and only improved, I am happy lol!

I loved Thandaza's dress and the decor for the reception, it was beutiful. Infact the entire wedding was perfect, but i couldnt wait to see what happens the following day after Pheko's grand entrance and that was before i read this month teaser.

Nice article makisto
Thanks man.

pls tell him to hit to de gym and his cooler
Raps told Move! magazine in 2009 or early 2010 that he is happy with his mokhaba and all.

She even said gore Ranthumeng tie and suits looks nice and nna i should have the same outfit nagana jerrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Ngwanab please do invite me to yur do lol. Ranthu's suit aint bad at all bu it looks just ok. The thing about it is expensive and has an understated elegance. They wardrobe department refrained from frilly and in your face beautiful clothing.

Lastly i think it was a beautiful wedding!
Beautiful indeed, my girlfriend had to even watch the repeat.

tjo! Makisto I hope you did not take my comment the wrong way *re reads your response* my comment was supposed to be a compliment that you are clued up with things & the proper words/names for these things but i guess it wasnt interpreted properly or maybe it didnt come out nicely!...pardon me rra if it rubbed you the wrong way!...and all the best for your honours in journalism!

Thanks for the pics, my mom in law to be was asking if I saw Thandaza's dress.. No wonder she was so exited, it is gorgeous!

makisto
07 Mar 2011 11:23

ls do tel me what does o ja chomi tlhe meansssssssssssssssssss???
I'm friends with Cheesa so I always refer to her as chomi so someone last week said with my chomi phrase, I don't like them girls and only do guys and I said that was his/her constitutional right to have an opinion. Basically when I saw the o ja chomi thingie, I took it in last week's context suggesting otherwise about my sexual orientation.

my comment was supposed to be a compliment
Thank you then Ms-.tebby. I was under the impression I gave above, not that I care anyway what people are saying about me because they are not me and I am me. I also refuse to be dictated how I should live my life and I will every now and again go against society's scripts on how I should handle myself.

Hao makisto, why did you wear a bafana tshirt and tekkies to a wedding?
Lol Sslave, it was Friday. A kere le the actors went on set looking sporty and only change their wardrobe uppon arrival. Imagine me wearing suits and all though I was only there to get a story.

I didnt like Nomusa's dress
Apparently it cost more than Agnes' and Meiki's

Thanks Cande, am glad you enjoyed reading it. Please send me thos pictures in which I feature in if you have already downloaded them.

It must have been difficult to sleep.

I enjoyed the song basotho (Ramthumeng family) sang wen they enter the chapel and doing step. It made me realize how beautiful and enjoyable traditional wedding are some of us we seems to adore and got stack ka western culture forgetting gore our traditional wedding clothes, songs, steps we do and the dance are so beautiful .

Mampho was enjoying the song and the step. Eish she reminds me of Mponeng every time I see her.

Nice 1 makisto! The wedding looked good. I just wanna say that I take back every bad comment I made about Muvhango. The show seem to have improve, judging from the replies I see here. Pheko isnt marrying Thandaza? Wonder what happened there... I cannot make further remarks about this because, just like Shwashwi Im CLUELESS!! BTW, is the opening senquence of Muvhango still plays that annoying song? If yes, then Muvhango needs to do sumthing about that (maybe remix that song) because I cant stand that song at all. It reminds me of Horror Cafe during the day, BORING... Im not going crazy over the grooms outfit though, maybe its because I dont recognise him and some of his groomsmen.

carino
14 Mar 2011 14:09

True that Lex. I was never sure how to say it properly. But seeing that you have now put it like that, yha.. Im not sure if it wouldve probably looked better on someone else. Maybe she's just too dark for that colour and those feathers. Its just that colour also makes the feathers look a bit disorganised.. or rather not properly sewn. I dont know.. kodwa something is definitely not right there.
