Bio
Melissa McBride is an American actress and casting director best known for her starring role as Carol Peletier in the television horror series The Walking Dead.
McBride began her professional acting career in 1991 while in her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. In more recent years, prior to joining the cast of The Walking Dead, McBride worked primarily behind the camera as a commercial casting director.
McBride cites her interests in psychology and the mystery of the human spirit as being the initial and continuing lead into her love of acting.
She was known for her brief yet compelling performance in the 2007 feature film The Mist, directed by Frank Darabont. Earlier credits include the festival-award winning films Lost Crossing, directed by Eric Blue and The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, directed by Peter Care and produced by Jodie Foster.
For television, McBride's appearances include the series Dawson's Creek, Walker Texas Ranger, Profiler and American Gothic as well as the television movies Living Proof and Pirates of Silicon Valley and numerous television commercials.
In addition to on-camera work, McBride enjoys voice acting. She was the voice-double for Anne Bancroft in the 2008 animated feature Delgo.
McBride said that mimicking the voice of the great actress, who approved her work, was an honor and by far the most intimidating work she'd ever approached.
