Bio
Parker Young is an American actor best known for his recurring role as Ryan Shay in the television sitcom Suburgatory, since 2011.
Born in Tucson, Arizona, he is the oldest of three in a very supportive family. He got his start acting in elementary school and fell in love with being on stage.
Even though football became his main focus in high school, he continued acting while also holding the position of captain of his Varsity football team.
Parker's senior year was a whirlwind of preparing for college while juggling football and theatre and maintaining exceptional grades and several extra curricular activities.
Parker was accepted into a number of colleges and universities across the country but convinced his parents to let him take some time off from school to see what Hollywood might have to offer.
So right after high school, Parker packed his bags and headed to LA, alone but with high hopes. Work came along consistently, and Parker put college plans aside and dove head first into the entertainment industry.
Parker's first job was a spec XM radio commercial for which he was paid $50, but soon he was fortunate enough to sustain an earning as a commercial actor.
He went on to sign with Bleu Model Management and booked a number of modeling jobs including Macy's Passport in both San Francisco and LA representing Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and (2)xist. Along the way came acting jobs on Days of Our Lives, Make It or Break It, Mad Men and a big international commercial for AXE.
In 2011 he landed a job on the sitcom Suburgatory. Originally his character Ryan Shay was not written as an over-the-top "dumb jock," but instead simply a very stereotypical cocky, popular jock.
Once he found out that the character had been changed, he spent the time researching some of the best well known dense and naive characters of the past such as Joey from Friends, Ashton Kutcher from That 70s Show, True Blood's Jason Stackhouse, and the infamous Charlie Sheen.
In addition to his role on Suburgatory, Parker was seen on CSI: NY and was a guest of the Craig Ferguson late show.
Parker currently resides in Los Angeles and enjoys staying active in a variety of different ways including Crossfit, Krav Maga, and participating in triathlons.
When he's not breaking a sweat you will most likely find him at the beach, a park, or Barnes & Noble.
