Annette Engelbrecht is a South African actress best known for her role as Maggie van Tonder in the SABC sitcom Orkney Snork Nie, as well as the follow-up films.
She started out in theatre working for the performing arts councils PACT, PACOFS, NAPAC, CAPAB, the Market Theatre, and The Free State Ensemble.
She has appeared in hit stage productions like Mattewis en Meraai, Hello and Goodbye, Hedda Gabler and Othello; and has worked with top directors including Francois Swart, Lucille Gillwald, Barney Simon and Robert Mohr.
Her television credits include Mattewis and Meraai, Bosveld Hotel, Swart Kat, Joachem Verwey, Miss Julie, Orkney Snork Nie, The Fourth Reich and Egoli.
From 1969 to 2006 Annette acted in several films for Brigadiers, Witkoppen Film Studios, WESTEL Film Studios, Mimosa Films, Franz Marx Films and BBC Channel 4.
In 2013 she had a recurring role in the SABC2 drama series Geraamtes in die Kas.
In 2017 she had a starring role as Tannie Tossie, the dating agency's neighbour who is determined to build her own tiny biltong shop brand, in the kykNET sitcom Elke Skewe Pot.
