Tom Ward is a Welsh actor best known for his starring role as witty, sharp, charming and ambitious forensic pathologist Harry Cunningham in the crime thriller police procedural television series Silent Witness, from 2002-2012.
Ward was born in Swansea, to the poet and academic John Powell Ward and Sarah Ward OBE, a farmer. His brother Tristan became a partner at Macfarlanes LLP, a firm of solicitors in the City of London.
Ward was sent to the Dragon School in Oxford and The King's School, Canterbury. He read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Lincoln College, Oxford. He joined the drama society, and subsequently decided to pursue acting as a career.
He has since built up an impressive list of credits including Vanity Fair, Pride and Prejudice and the film Quills. He is also an experienced stage fighter and has fenced for Great Britain.
Other television series he has appeared in include Anna Karenina, Midsomer Murders, Death in Paradise and Doctor Who.
He has also acted in numerous television movies including The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders, Peacekeepers, The Lost World, Red Cap, Ready When You Are Mr. McGill, Hawking, Instinct and Marple: The Pale Horse.
Tom enjoys singing, dancing and playing the saxophone. He is married to journalist Emily Hohler and they have three children.
