D.L. Hughley is an American actor and stand-up comedian best known as the star and producer of his namesake television sitcom The Hughleys.
In 2013, Hughley authored his first humorous book, I Want You to Shut the F#ck Up, the same year he created the satirical documentary special for Comedy Central, D.L. Hughley: The Endangered List. The critically acclaimed special went on to earn a prestigious George Foster Peabody Award.
As the star and producer of his namesake television show that ran on ABC and UPN, The Hughleys, he is also well known as one of the standout comedians on the hit comedy docufilm The Original Kings of Comedy.
A veteran of numerous talk show appearances, Hughley turned the tables in 2005 by hosting his own talk show on Comedy Central, Weekends at the D.L.
Known for being astute and politically savvy in true comedian style, Hughley served as host of his own late-night talk show on CNN, D.L. Hughley Breaks the News.
In 2016 he starred as Dr. Myron Hackett, hospital psychiatrist, in the short-lived medical drama series Heartbeat.
