Synopsis
This classic pirate yarn has been adapted for film and television more than 50 times – but the latest take has a particularly impressive cast.
Comedian-turned-actor Eddie Izzard stars as Long John Silver, who signs on as ship's cook when young Jim Hawkins (Toby Regbo) and his friends set sail to follow a map to buried treasure.
But Silver was a treacherous comrade of the bloodthirsty buccaneer who buried the loot, and secretly plans to lead a mutiny and seize it for himself!
Jim always knew the voyage was going to be an adventure, but hadn't expected to end up fighting for his life.
Elijah Wood is the castaway Ben Gunn, while Donald Sutherland plays Flint, the man who buried the treasure. Life on Mars' Philip Glenister is the ship's captain, Smollett, and he's reunited with Ashes to Ashes co-star Daniel Mays as Dr Livesey.
Treasure Island delivers a feast of swashbuckling, derring-do and high-seas adventure in the classic manner, combined with the best of explosive modern action.
