Season 7
Waking the Dead is a British television crime drama series created by Barbara Machin which follows the work of a special police team who investigate "cold cases", usually murders that took place a number of years ago and were never solved.
The series aired in the UK on BBC One from 4 September, 2000 to 11 April, 2011. There are 92 hour-long episodes in nine seasons.
Waking the Dead aired in South Africa on DStv's BBC Entertainment (formerly BBC Prime) channel. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
Season 7 originally aired on BBC Entertainment from 1 December, 2008 to 16 February, 2009, on Mondays at 20h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 12 episodes in the seventh season.
Season 7
The Cold Case team return for another series of grisly yet compelling cases.
The Head of the Cold Case Unit, Peter Boyd (Trevor Eve) is as ever running things in a highly emotional state, heightened in this series by the demons of his own past returning.
He is ably supported, however, by his team of Grace, Spencer and Stella, while relatively new pathologist Eve (Tara Fitzgerald) has some of her own demons to exorcise as the team deal with war criminals from the Bosnia/Serbia war, a conflict in which she previously worked examining mass war graves.
Other cases featured in this season include a decapitated corpse found near an army barracks, a body from the 1990s identified as a political activist, and a body that seems to have been buried in a ritualistic manner.
The team seem disparate and desperate at times, but the mutual understanding of the gravity of their task results in the cases' resolution, and another enticing season of this award-winning drama.
