By this time next week either the 19-year-old charmer from Graskop, Brenden Ledwaba or eMalahleni’s smooth gentle giant Musa Sukwene will have been crowned South Africa’s next Idol. And this Friday (22 November), at the Top 2 Spectacular at the Moreleta Park Church Auditorium in Pretoria, is when they will battle it out for South Africa’s votes for the last time.
Brenden and Musa will reprise some of their Idols Season 9 “Greatest Hits” this week, and they’ll each get three chances to impress the Idols judges and, more importantly, the voters, one more time ...
In the Producers’ Favourite Performance of the Season round Brenden will revisit Nigerian singer-songwriter Asa’s “Jailer” from the Top 5 Spectacular, and Musa is singing the Ringo Madlingozi hit “Ndiyagodola” from the Top 9 show.
For their own favourite performances of the competition Musa selected Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” from the Top 10 Spectacular when they sang “Cheesy Songs”, and Brenden takes it all the way back to the Top 18: Guys show, when he first performed Rihanna’s “Stay”.
And then, the Big Moment when the Top 2 get to perform their brand new singles for the first time. Brenden’s song, which will be released as his first single if he should win the competition, is called “Fingerprints”, and for Musa it’s a song called “I Still Feel It”.
The voting lines for the Top 2 have already opened, and will stay open until Monday, 25 November at 22:00.
The exciting live Finalé Spectacular will be broadcast on M-Net and Mzansi Magic and will boast performances by the likes of AKA, The Parlotones, ChianoSky, MiCasa, Khuli Chana, and of course the Top 2 finalists. Tickets for that show are on sale at Computicket right now.
Fans can also see their Top 2 finalists live and get their autographs when they perform at the brand new Cradlestone Mall at Mogale City at noon on Saturday and at Cresta Mall in Randburg at 14:30 on Saturday, 23 November afternoon.
And on Sunday, 24 November Idols fans in Cape Town can cheer Brenden and Musa on at Canal Walk at 11:00am.
