Last week marked a historic milestone for SABC’s biggest soapie threat, etv's Rhythm City, which celebrated its’ 1000th episode after it's debut 4 years ago. With so much success, I forgot how young the soapie is compared to its' competitors.
The theme of the night was Sophiatown and the festivities went down at Moyo’s Zoo Lake. As straightforward as it was to get to the venue, somehow I managed to get lost going there and like a streak of bad luck, I also got lost leaving the venue. Trust me, I was 150% sober.
The function was all about celebrating, so the speeches were short and we went straight to the festivities with a 3-course buffet, an open bar and the dance floor, which was set alight by the Rhythm City cast. They are such a crazy bunch and it is was good to see how close they are. Could that be the secret to the soapie's success? Let's ask Generations.
The actor that made my evening was Jamie Bartlett, who plays the character of David Genaro, who I personally believe deserves to take home a Best Male in a Soapie award. His onscreen character is so intimidating and rather “evil” that you’d end up believing that’s how he is offscreen. However ... I was blown away by his extremely crazy and playful personality and to top it off he has a great sense of humour.
Just Look at his face. Don't you think it belongs to David's personality and not Jamie's?
Dressed in her Sophiatown gear is Lucille (KB Motsilanyane).
Check out Suffocate's or is it Mduduzi Mabaso's facial expression. Scary!
Tshidi (Nokuthula Ledwaba) was uber hott and took centre stage at the do.
The function was a success and everyone must have had a good time.
It was rather unfortunate that "my photographer" didn't pitch. Thanks to Karabo for saving the night by hooking me up with the photos he took with his phone.
I know the ladies would have loved to see the likes of Sbu (Lungile Radu) who was there and as hot as always. Sorry ladies... We'll blame it on the pho-pho-photographer!!!
Big Ups to Mpume, the event organiser, for her great hospitality and a job well done!
Sorry about the picture quality:(
