Flat Out Fabulous
Channel: The Home Channel (DStv 176 / Openview 113)
TX Time: 14h30
Genre: Reality Makeover, Home Improvement, Reality
Makeover show in which a stylish yet thrifty interior designer, Whinnie Williams, proves that you don't have to own your own home to make it look incredible.
She's a design queen who dares to be different and believes that if housemates clubbed together and rolled their sleeves up, for just the cost of a big night out, they could jazz up their living room and transform it into an amazing shared space.
Whinnie and her co-host, Tyler West, are passionate about showing that home renovations don't have to cost a fortune and that you can have that million-pound look for less.
In each episode, they travel to a different part of the UK, meeting a wide variety of flatmates surrounded by dull decor and flagging furniture.
After scouring vintage shops, online auctions and giving loads of smart upcycling and decorating tips, they share how anyone can go from lacklustre lounge to Flat Out Fabulous in a few simple - and cost-effective - steps.
In the series premiere, "Salford/Roaring Twenties": Whinnie and Tyler are in sunny Salford meeting seven students who are desperate to give their digs a new lease of life.
Elliot, Jemima, Toby, Charlie, Max, Anna and Stan are the ultimate pranksters.
They love hanging out together but don't have the right space for it.
The living room lacks personality and is a bit grim.
Second-hand red sofas that they all hate, a mouldy jug and a tired old coffee table is the current vibe in the room, and these renters are hoping the queen of thrift can come in and work her magic, all for the cost of a big night out.
The housemates want a space where they can drink with their friends, watch movies and chill out.
Can Whinnie cater to seven different styles and tastes?
The one thing they all agree on is their love of neutral tones, but there's nothing neutral about Whinnie Williams, so she's ignoring their ideas and is injecting a bit of colour into their lives.
She's bringing in a Roaring Twenties cinema theme with snakeskin wallpaper and a gold ceiling.
There's a snack station fireplace, a lush teal velvet sofa and cinema seats.
And she's getting the housemates involved too: upcycling a coffee table with gold leaf, dyeing a second hand rug and creating her own version of an expensive gold palm leaf standing lamp.
Some of the housemates are struggling to see how Whinnie's vision will come together, especially as she's pranking them into thinking all is not as it seems.

The USA's fourth most populous city faces hurricanes, heat and the growing consequences of global warming.
Only a radical solution can save the city, a solution that may lie within a massive dome - 1,500 feet high and a mile in diameter that will rise over the city centre.
Building the dome will require innovative engineering and construction on an unprecedented scale, with lessons, materials, and techniques drawn from around the world.
