Ulrich Thomsen is a Danish actor best known for his role as henchman Sasha Davidov in the 1999 film The World is Not Enough, and for his starring role as Kai Proctor, an intimidating and wealthy businessman who has a hand in nearly all of Banshee's criminal enterprises, in the action drama television series Banshee.

Thomsen has worked with many acclaimed European directors and is one of Europe's most sought after actors, starring in dozens of international productions.

He was first introduced to worldwide audiences for his leading role as a member of Denmark's most dysfunctional family in Thomas Vinterberg's 1998 art house hit Festen (The Celebration) for which he received his first Best European Actor nomination at the European Film Academy Awards. The film won the Cannes Jury Prize among many others and cemented the impact of the Dogma era in filmmaking history.

Thomsen's international feature films include Bond: The World is Not Enough, Kathryn Bigelow's The Weight of Water, and Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven, amongst others.

Among his many accolades, he was presented with the Best Actor Award by the Danish Film Academy on several occasions. For his performance in Brothers, he received his second Best European Actor nomination and won the prestigious Best Actor Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival.

Recently, Thomsen reteamed with Danish director, Suzannah Beirs, in the Golden Globe and Academy Award Best Foreign Film winner In A Better World, and starred in the remake of The Thing.

On television, Thomsen guest starred on the hit series Alias, the BBC miniseries The Virgin Queen, the TNT miniseries The Company, produced by Ridley Scott as well as JJ Abrams' Fringe.
