Bio

Noah Wyle is an American actor best known for his starring role as Dr. John Carter on the medical drama television series ER, from 1994-2009.

He was the only major cast member of ER to have been with the show since its inception, when he left after its 11th season.

His performances on the show earned him Emmy Award nominations in each of its first five seasons, and (as part of an ensemble) several Screen Actors Guild Awards and nominations.

Wyle left the series at the end of the 2004-2005 season, although he returned in guest appearances for four episodes in each of the next two seasons. He stated that he left because he wanted to spend more time with his family.

From 2011-2015 he starred as Tom Mason, the leader of a group of soldiers and civilians that battle against an invading alien force, in the science fiction television series Falling Skies.

Wyle previously worked on The Librarian series of movies. Prior to that, he played Steve Jobs in the Emmy-nominated movie television movie Pirates of Silicon Valley.

Wyle's feature film credits include White Oleander, Enough, Donnie Darko, The Myth of Fingerprints, Swing Kids and A Few Good Men.

Wyle is involved in numerous issue-oriented initiatives, including serving as national spokesperson for Cover the Uninsured Week, an unprecedented effort to bring awareness to the 44 million Americans who have no health coverage.

His other philanthropic involvement includes work with Doctors of the World, Human Rights Watch and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.

Wyle is also very involved and devoted to the theatre, serving as creative producer of the award-winning Blank Theatre Company.

Wyle was named one of the 50 Most Beautiful People by People magazine in 2001. He dated several women, including actress Samantha Mathis.

While filming The Myth of Fingerprints in 1996, he met make-up artist Tracy Warbin. After proposing to her on Valentine's Day in 1999, they married on 6 May, 2000.

They have a son, Owen Strausser Speer Wyle (born 9 November, 2002) and a daughter, Auden Wyle (born 15 October, 2005). The couple separated at the end of 2009.
