Nestor Carbonell is an American actor best known for his television roles as Luis Rivera on Suddenly Susan (1996-2000) and as Richard Alpert on Lost, from 2007-2010.

He also starred as FBI agent Victor Machado, whose key witness, Bridget Kelly (Sarah Michelle Gellar), has disappeared before she was set to testify in a trial that would send a mob boss to prison, in the mystery drama thriller series Ringer, from 2011-2012.

Although he was born in New York City, Carbonell was raised in 13 different locations across the globe.

He attended Harvard University, which is where he discovered his passion for acting while performing in a number of school plays and eventually some off-Broadway shows.

Carbonell's big break was the sitcom Suddenly Susan. From 1996 to 2000, he starred opposite Brooke Shields as Luis Rivera, a magazine photographer and ladies' man.

He has also been on several TV shows, including Century City, Scrubs, Monk and House, M.D. Carbonell also lent his voice to the animated series The Tick.

The actor's movie roles include HBO's The Laramie Project, Manhood, Attention Shoppers, which he also wrote, and Noriega: God's Favorite, alongside his Strong Medicine co-star Rosa Blasi.

Carbonell also appeared in the film The Lost City, co-starring Andy Garcia, Bill Murray and Dustin Hoffman.

Carbonell lives in Los Angeles with his family.
