Bio
Paul du Toit is a South African actor best known for his roles as Dean on the e.tv soapie Backstage and for his role as Malan Koster in the M-Net/kykNET soapie Binnelanders.
Du Toit graduated in Drama from the University of Stellenbosch in 1996 having received the best actor award and a Fleur du Cap nomination for most promising student.
After university followed appearances in the theatre productions The Doo Wah Boys, Into The Woods, the title role in Elephant Man, Stephen in Old Wicked Songs (for which he received an FNB Vita nomination for best Actor), Orlando in As You Like It, Guy in Strangers on a Train, the title role in African Star: the Will Schreiner Story, Tom in Skin Tight, The Cat in Honk (Vita nomination: Best performance by an actor in a musical) and Cassio in Othello (for which he won an FNB Vita for best supporting Actor).
In addition he is one of the creators of the popular revues Offbeat Broadway 1, 2 and 3. For his involvement as scriptwriter, lyricist and performer in the latter, du Toit earned a Fleur du Cap and a Naledi nomination for Best Contribution to a Musical.
His film work includes appearances in Blast! (2004) and the made-for-TV movie Supernova (2005).
Aside from his work on Backstage and Binnelanders, du Toit also played the role of Eric - Madam's son - in the e.tv sitcom Madam and Eve.
Paul teamed up with good friend Terence Bridgett to star in the travel documentary series Rof of Spog (Rough or Smooth), from 2011-2012. The series aired in Afrikaans on SABC2 and in English on Mzansi Magic.
