Connie Ferguson is a South African actress best known for her role as the beautiful yet tragic Karabo Moroka on the long-running SABC1 soapie Generations, from the first episode on 4 February, 1994 to October, 2010.
She also starred as Marang Lebone, a helicopter-mom and the matriarch of the Lebone family, in the M-Net soap opera The Wild, from 2011-2013.
She was the host of the Generations 15th Birthday Special, which aired on SABC1 on Thursday 26 February, 2009.
She announced on 30 April, 2010 that she was leaving Generations after 16 years to "go out into the world". Her final appearance in the soapie was in October 2010.
Connie has played lead roles in What If, Crime Reporter, Maitemogelo and Soul City 1, 2, 3 and 4. She had a lead role in the production Cape of Good Hope and made a guest appearance on Okavango.
She has also made cameo appearances on Danger Zone, Matswakabele 2 and 3, Lesilo Rula 2, On The Right Track and Surbuban Bliss.
Her television appearances include presenting on Eduspectrum, Molomo Radiopotso, Is'godi, Topscore, Handy Hints, Studio Mix, Continuity – CCV and SABC 2 and Plascon Change Your World.
Connie has also appeared in advertisements for Ellerines (between 1990 and 1991), Ultramel Custard (1992, 1995), Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion (1992) and Black Like Me (1998).
Her work in the stills advertising arena includes numerous fashion and beauty shoots for Wella Sheen, Eskamel, Black Chic, Vodacom Billboards and Connie M Eyewear.
Connie was born in Kimberley on 10 June, 1970. She is married to Aaron “Shona” Ferguson and has two daughters, Lesedi and Alicia.
According to Connie her most special achievements are being voted one of South Africa's Ten Most beautiful Women (1993) by Cosmopolitan Magazine, featuring in David Dodd's Portraits of South Africa's Most beautiful Women (1997), and appearing on the cover of many local magazines including True Love, Ebony, Tribute, Drum and Pace.
In 2013 she produced and starred in the Mzansi Magic drama series Rockville. She was one of the celebrities to compete in the sixth season of the SABC3 reality competition Strictly Come Dancing, also in 2013.
