Bio

Camilla Waldman is a South African actress best known for her role as Anne de Villiers, the Madam of a high-class brothel, on the SABC1 soapie Generations, from March 2004 to June 2008.

Camilla completed a BA in Drama and a Performer's Diploma, graduating cum laude from the University of Cape Town.

She then joined the Jazzart Dance Theatre Company and performed with them for two years.

Her theatre productions include: The Yellow Wallpaper - a one-woman show which she also performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; Twilight of The Golds; South African writer Anthony Ackerman's premiere of Dark Outsider; Phaedra, and several productions for The Market Theatre – Scenes From An Execution, (Dalro and Vita Awards for Best Supporting Actress) and Kafka Dances – both directed by Clare Stopford, Closer (directed by Sello Maake Ka-Ncube) and How I Learnt To Drive.

Camilla toured with Paul Slabolepszy and his production of Crashing The Night; and performed in Chekov's Three Sisters and The Tale of the Allergist's Wife. She was involved in the productions of Shakespeare's Midsummer's Night Dream and King Lear.

Camilla's television work includes minor roles in the series The Res by Franz Marx and Anant Singh, Gaz'lam and Justice For All. Other television series she has acted in include Going Up, Wild at Heart, Isidingo and Binneland.

She played a small role in the 2001 feature film Berserker. Other films she has acted in include Morella, Man's Nature, The Feeding Frenzy, Tramlines, The Fall, Johnny van Dongen, Spaarwiel and Dead Easy.

She taught at The Market Theatre Laboratory for several years, at UCT and The National School of The Arts. She has also done performance coaching for television.

Waldman - along with co-star Leleti Khumalo - was fired from Generations in October 2007, after producers decided they had to get rid of a few established actors to make way for new faces on the show. Her last appearance on the show was in June 2008.

In 2012 she played the role of Rosie in the second season of the SABC3 comedy series On the Couch and had a recurring role as Dr. Ongers on the e.tv soapie Rhythm City.

In 2013 she had a starring role on the SABC1 drama series Tempy Pushas, set against the backdrop of the lavish fashion world and juxtaposed with the vibrant township culture.

Camilla was married to actor Jamie Bartlett of Isidingo and Rhythm City fame and they had a son, Hector. The marriage later ended in divorce.
