On 18 February 2006, Postma was bitten by a lion when she and her family were visiting a lion farm near Klerksdorp. She was petting tame lions through the fence when her ring got caught in one of the lion’s claws. In the attempt to dislodge the ring from the claw, the lion became distressed and bit her hand. One of her fingers was almost completely severed but doctors managed to operate and repaired the damage.
