Bio
Rolanda Marais is a South African actress best known for her starring role as Stefanie Louw-Malherbe in the kykNET soap opera Binneland (formerly Binnelanders and Binneland Sub Judice), from 2005-2012.
She lived in Jo'burg until the age of 12, when her parents moved to the Boland town of Wellington. She was raised there, matriculated there and then went to UCT to do an Afrikaans-Dutch degree and study drama, which is her big passion in life.
In her final year she started acting in professional productions, and her first TV role was for Dirk de Villiers in Lied van die Lappop. Since then she has appeared in numerous films, theatre productions and television series.
A highlight of her career was Out On A Limb, in which she played the lead role. She also starred in several advertisements which helped her pay for overseas travels.
For seven years she freelanced, and when Binnelanders came her way she realised that she enjoyed the stability.
She loves the theatre and considers herself fortunate enough to do a number of plays for her favourite director, Marthinus Basson.
Her theatre highlights include Aars! with Antoinette Kellerman and Dawid Minnaar, and Romeo en Julia (she was Julia) with Jana Cillliers, Antoinette and Dawid. She also played the title role in Hedda Gabler, which was performed at the Oudtshoorn festival.
Rolanda collects furniture and decorative pieces from the 70s, and loves browsing in second-hand shops. She also collects works by local artists.
Other television series she has acted in include the science fiction show Charlie Jade (2005), two seasons of the SABC2 police procedural Zero Tolerance (2004) and the second season of the SABC1 drama series Intersexions, in 2013.
She also starred as Analine King, David's estranged wife and mother of his three children, in the SABC3 drama series High Rollers, in 2013.
