Bio
Neels van Jaarsveld is a South African actor best known for his role as Dr Gideon Basson in the Afrikaans language soapie Binnelanders as well as his role in a Klipdrift brandy commercial.
Born in Kuils River, Cape Town, Van Jaarsveld and his family moved to Johannesburg soon after he was born. He attended Laerskool Aucklandpark where he was head boy, and wrote his matric at Hoërskool Linden, after spending a year at Paul Roos Gymnasium.
Neels completed a BA with Drama at the University of Stellenbosch, after which he began acting professionally.
At the end of his third year he started working with theatre director Marthinus Basson in his theatre company Vleis, Rys & Aartappels (meat, rice and potatoes).
Van Jaarsveld has been a main credited cast member on the television series Hard Copy, Known Gods, Binnelanders and On the Couch.
He has had guest roles in the television series Yizo, Yizo, SOS , Madam and Eve and Cave Girl, a BBC series.
He has also had a role in the made-for-TV movie The Poseidon Adventure (2005).
His other theatre credits include roles in Mamma Medea, Spanner, De Familie Wagenaer, Skroothonde, Japes, Altyd Jonker, Verkeer and Boks.
He played the role of Flippie in the SABC3 comedy series On the Couch and had a starring role as Wim in the kykNET soapie Diepe Waters.
