Bio
Ryan Michelle Bathe is American actress best known as Sara Holt, the intelligent lawyer who knows she's beautiful, in the second season of the comedy-drama television series Boston Legal, from 2005-2006.
She also starred as Jessica Sanders in the sitcom Retired at 35, from 2011-2012.
Since her mother is also an actress, Bathe was exposed to the acting profession at an early age. She was also a member of the Chamber Singers, a group that sang a varied music program and performed in Europe.
Bathe continued her interest in acting by performing in several productions while attending Stanford University, where she double-majored in Black Studies and English.
Her mentor encouraged her to apply to drama schools, so after receiving her BA, she went on to get an MFA from the renowned New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
She has made guest appearances on the television shows The Education of Max Bickford (her screen acting debut in 2001), ER, Half & Half, Brothers & Sisters, Medium and Girlfriends.
Bathe has acted in the made-for-TV movies Good Fences (2003), Lackawanna Blues (2005), and Pink Collar (2006); and in the feature films Brother to Brother (2004), April Moon (2007) and All About Us (2007).
An admirer of playwright August Wilson, she is also an avid "Harry Potter" reader and, in her spare time, loves to cook, play tennis and sing.
She has been married to actor Sterling K. Brown since June 2007.
