Eva Longoria Parker is an American actress best known for her role as Gabrielle Solis in the television series Desperate Housewives, appearing on the show from 2004-2012.
Career
The youngest of four sisters who grew up on a ranch near Corpus Christi, Texas, Longoria attended Texas A&M-Kingsville, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.
After graduating from college, she entered a talent contest that took her to Los Angeles, where she was spotted and subsequently signed by a theatrical agent.
Her first screen job was the role of Flight Attendant #3 in an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 in 2000. In the same year she made an uncredited appearance in an episode of General Hospital, before landing her first big television role, as psychotic Isabella Braña Williams on the soap opera The Young And The Restless.
She stayed on Y&R for two years, from 2001-2003, and was listed in People en Español's "Most Beautiful People" for 2003.
Later that year she landed another major part, as Detective Gloria Duran on a remake of the police procedural Dragnet. The show was cancelled early in its second season, but Longoria had another major television credit to her name.
She had minor roles in the direct-to-video movies Snitch'd (2003) and Señorita Justice (2004), in the made-for-TV movie The Dead Will Tell (2004) and the feature film Carlita's Secret (2004), which which she played her first title role.
In October 2004 she debuted as one of the leads on Desperate Housewives, which instantly elevated her straight to Hollywood's A-List.
In 2005 she made another two small movies, Hustler's Instinct and Harsh Times (2005), and in 2006 had a guest appearance on the sitcom George Lopez.
In the same year she had her first major feature film role, in the thriller The Sentinel, starring Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland.
Personal Life
Longoria was married to Tyler Christopher, General Hospital star, from 2002 to 2004, and as such, was also credited as Eva Longoria Christopher.
She has been romantically linked to SAG president Edward WV Stephens, successful writer Milan Gracanin, ex-*NSYNC member JC Chasez, and actor Mousir Syed.
She was married to NBA basketball star Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs from 2007-2011. During this period she was credited as Eva Longoria-Parker.
Longoria is a Catholic and jokingly mentioned about how uneasy it made her feel in an episode of Desperate Housewives when her character attacked a nun.
She has also mentioned in the past that her grandmother at first disapproved of the fact that her character was having an adulterous affair with a 16-year old.
