Bio
Bob Mabena was a South African radio and television personality known for hosting numerous television shows and for his radio tenures at Metro FM, Khaya FM, Highveld Stereo and POWER 98.7.
His TV credits include presenting the SABC1 music shows Jam Alley and Studio Mix, which he co-hosted with Melanie Bala (née Son).
Between 1 June 2007 and 17 February 2009 Bob served as the SABC's head of commercial radio stations.
In 2010 he hosted the e.tv music show Unplugged Joy of Jazz.
He also hosted Season 1 of the employment reality show You're Hired! and in 2015/2016 he was profiled on the third season of the SABC1/Pearl Modiadie talk show Zaziwa.
In 2016 he was also one of the profiled celebrities on Season 2 of the M-Net documentary series My Story.
In 2017 he was nominated for a Best TV Presenter Golden Horn at the 11th SAFTAs for hosting a series of Mzansi Magic Music Specials.
On the music front Bob was also known as "The Jammer" and in July 2020 he released a house music compilation album called Jammer's House Volume 1, featuring a compilation of his favourite jams to mark his 51st birthday.
He died on Monday, 10 August 2020 from cardiac arrest.
