Bio

Pepsi Pokane is a South African actor, television presenter, director and businessman best known for hosting the SABC2 late-night music show Afro Café, since 2005.

Born in Johannesburg and raised in Lesotho, Pokane’s background is primarily in television and media. After studying for a degree in International Business, he turned his attention to television presenting.

He has worked as a pro-active presenter and actor writing scripts, producing inserts and contributing to the creative direction of shows like The Toasty Show, Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, CineMagic, Mamepe and the SABC1 drama series Gaz'lam.

He also starred as Vic in the second and third seasons of Gaz'lam, appearing in 16 episodes from 2003-2005.

He has hosted and executive produced the adult contemporary music show Afro Café on SABC2 since it premiered in July 2005.

He also hosted the SABC2 reality show You're Hired 2 in 2006, taking over from Bob Mabena, who was the sole host for Season 1.

In addition to his on-screen work, Pepsi is a prolifically busy Event M.C. lending his talents to beauty pageants, corporate shows and music concerts.

He was voted as Cosmopolitan’s Sexiest South African Man for 2006, as well as one of 5 Seventeen Magazine Hotties for 2006.

He has a brand endorsement deal with health food supplement Cellfood, which has recognised him as a serious force to be dealt with in South Africa’s media and entertainment industry, both as a personality and a media owner.

He is married to fashion designer Machere Pooe and has a daughter, born in 2004. He currently resides in Johannesburg.
