Bio
Catriona Andrew is a Scottish-born South African actress best known for her role as Jane Edwards in the long-running M-Net soap opera Egoli; and as lawyer Nadine Shakanovsky in the SABC3 drama series The Lab.
Andrew was born in Scotland but moved to South Africa at a young age when her parents permanently relocated here.
Having attended a majority Afrikaans speaking school from standard eight to matric at the Art School ‘Pro-Arte’, she quickly had to learn to speak the language.
Andrew played Egoli’s Jane Edwards for seven years. It was the first major role she landed after graduating from UCT with a Performers Diploma in Speech and Drama in 1994.
She's since been seen on our screens as Liz in Song vir Katryn; playing the controversial role of Alix; as a pole dancing stripper in Snitch, aired both on M-net and SABC; as a British tourist in the movie Duma, a Warner Bros production; and the murdering widow Sylvie Nthuli in the SABC1 sub-titled Zulu drama Mtunzini.com.
She is also a regular guest on the sports show Super Saturday, for which she created, produced and presented a 12-part golfing insert show.
The Ab Fab, tongue-in-cheek 12-part diary insert show followed the journey of Vanessa Carreira, Nthati Moshesh, Lee-Ann Liebenberg, Mary-Ann Barlow and Andrew herself into the world of golf, which concluded with a girls vs. boys challenge against the Super Saturday team.
Andrew has graced the covers of numerous magazines over the last few years (24 covers to date).
She was nominated for a best actress award in ‘People Magazine’s Crystal Awards in 2001 and for two years was chosen as one of FHM’s 100 sexiest women.
She was also nominated for ‘Most Stylish Actress’ in the Sunday Times / Elle style awards in 2005.
