Bio
Katie Cassidy is an American singer and actress best known for her television roles as Ruby in Supernatural (2007-2008), as Trish Wellington in Harper's Island (2009) and as Ella Simms on Melrose Place, from 2009-2010.
She currently stars as Laurel Lance, a brilliant and tough attorney who fights for the rights of the less fortunate, in the superhero action series Arrow, since 2012.
Previous television credits include recurring roles as Zoe on 7th Heaven and as Juliet Sharp on Gossip Girl, as well as guest starring turns in The Division and Sex, Love and Secrets.
In addition, Cassidy appeared in Chris Carter's film Fencewalker. She also starred in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, with Jackie Earle Haley for New Line Cinema, produced by Michael Bay with Sam Bayer directing.
Cassidy's other film credits include Black Christmas, Taken, opposite Liam Neeson and Maggie Grace, When a Stranger Calls, Walk the Talk, You Are Here and Click, with Adam Sandler.
She appeared in Independent Edge Films' Kill for Me, a thriller centered around two female college roommates whose lives take an unexpected dark and deadly detour. Produced by Kyle Mann and directed by Michael Greenspan, Cassidy stars opposite Tracy Spiridakos and Donal Logue.
Additionally, she appeared in another thriller titled The Scribbler, in which she plays the character Suki. The film also stars Michelle Trachtenberg and Eliza Dushku.
Off screen, Cassidy is very involved in H.E.L.P Malawi. She and H.E.L.P Board Members journeyed to Malawi in 2009 to visit and participate on the ground. Cassidy witnessed first hand H.E.L.P's ongoing efforts.
While in Malawi, she learned how H.E.L.P. utilizes resources in the natural environment to teach the children and the community self-sustaining skills. She helped plant crops, make stoves out of mud and clay, and harvest the jam and peanut butter ingredients which were grown at the local school.
Cassidy left her special mark in Malawi by creating The Katie Cassidy and Friends Garden. She also designed a necklace to raise money for the foundation that can be purchased online.
Born and raised in Southern California, Cassidy currently resides in Los Angeles. She is the daughter of singer David Cassidy.
