Az Abrahams (died 21 November 2009) was a South African radio DJ and actor best known as the host of the Heart Party Beatz show on Heart 104.9 FM; and for his role as Winston Phillips in the SABC1 drama series Montana, in 2009.
Raised in Fairways, Cape Town, Az attended school in Lansdowne. He appeared in numerous theatrical productions in the city, including Daai's Mos Reality, Sisters In Arms, The Diva Music and the schools tour production of Buckingham Palace.
He made his film debut in the 2000 feature Bush Decision. subsequent films included Dollars And White Pipes, 34 South, Confessions Of A Gambler, The Man From Yesterday, Doomsday, More Than Just A Game, The Scorpion King: Rise of a Warrior and Darfur.
In television, Az appeared in the sitcoms SOS and Madam & Eve (both on e.tv), and had a leading role in the edgy M-Net mini-series Innocent Times (2008), created by Geoff Newton and Justin Strydom.
In 2009 he played the leading role of Winston Phillips in the first season of the SABC1 drama series Montana.
In the early hours of Saturday, 21 November 2009, Az was killed when his vehicle struck a concrete barrier on the N1 highway near Bellville and overturned.
