Bio
Litha Booi is a South African actor best known for his role as the title character in the SABC1 mini-series uGugu no Andile (Gugu and Andile) in 2008, which was part of the channel's "Shakespeare in Mzansi" strand.
Booi earned a BA Drama at AFDA in Johannesburg, taking courses in physical theatre and screen and stage acting.
He has played supporting roles in the SABC1 drama series Tsha Tsha and made a guest appearance in another SABC1 drama series, Home Affairs.
He played the supporting role of Zane Thema in the made-for-TV film The Bet, which formed part of the Heartlines series that was aired on SABC1, 2 and 3 in 2007.
In 2007 he had a leading role in the American made-for-TV horror film The Raven based on the book by Edgar Allan Poe, which was filmed partly on location in Johannesburg.
He plays the lead role of Andile in the SABC1 mini-series adaptation of Romeo and Juliet - uGugu no Andile - from June to July, 2008.
On 4 April, 2009 he won a Most Promising Actor award at the 2009 African Movie Academy Awards for his portrayal of Andile.
Litha is multilingual, speaking English, Xhosa, Zulu, Afrikaans and Sotho. He enjoys rugby, cricket, writing poetry and swimming.
In 2013 he had a starring role in an episode of the e.tv anthology series Mzansi Love: Kasi Style ("Sexy.com", Season 2, Episode 3). The following year he had a starring role in the SABC1 drama series Sticks and Stones.
