Bio
Majandra Delfino is a Venezuelan-born American actress best known for her role as Maria DeLuca in the sci-fi series Roswell, appearing in 60 episodes from 1999-2002.
She also starred in the short-lived sitcom State of Georgia, in 2011.
Delfino has also appeared in several feature films, including Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic (2000). Her other film credits include Zeus and Roxanne (1997), The Secret Lives of Girls (1999), Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th (2000) and The Learning Curve (2001).
On television, she starred as the eldest daughter Tina DiMeo in The Tony Danza Show.
Delfino was born in Caracas, Venezuela to Venezuelan and Cuban-American parents and moved to Miami with her family at age three.
By age five she was playing piano, and at 11 she was singing as one-quarter of China Doll, an all-girl quartet that specialized in Latin and American pop.
After two years with the group, Delfino and best friend Samantha Gibb, daughter of the Bee Gee’s Maurice Gibb, left the group to perform as a duet.
They still perform together on special occasions. Delfino is also an accomplished ballet dancer who has appeared in productions of the Miami Ballet company.
Delfino was always more of a musician than an actress, and since the termination of Roswell back in 2002, she has refocused herself on her music, releasing the critically acclaimed 2001 album The Sicks on her own label, Dripfeed, without radio or television airplay.
Her second album, Tarte, was released in mid 2007 by Emperor Penguin Recordings ( EPR ).
She lives in Los Angeles.
