Bio
Rowan Cloete is a South African actor, radio DJ, television presenter and entrepreneur best known as a continuity announcer for SABC1 (2000-2004) and for hosting the reality competition Popstars, also for SABC1, in 2004.
As an actor, Cloete has performed mostly in theatre. Productions include My Night with Reg; Plofstof; the Janice Honeyman pantomime Cinderella; Love, Valour, Compassion!; the role of Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar; and the lead role of Claude in Hair, which ran at the Montecasino Theatre in Johannesburg and the Theatre on the Bay in Cape Town.
He was a continuity presenter for SABC1 from 2000-2004. He also presented the Miss SA Teen pageant in 2000, the Duku Duku theatre awards in 2002, the WWF SOS Planet Concert in 2003 and Coca Cola Popstars in 2004.
He presented the media review show Stook! on DStv's Afrikaans music channel MK from 2004-2007. The show was produced by his production company Long Island TV, which he runs with wife and business partner Kim Cloete.
The company is currently producing a children's show for a new DStv channel.
His television acting credits include the roles of Johnny Bosman in the SABC3 soapie Isidingo, as well as the role of Dean, a new mechanic in Braam's showroom, in the M-Net soapie Egoli, since September 2008.
Cloete has been a DJ at Jacaranda 94.2 since 2008.
When he's not writing, directing and producing, or travelling the world for the travel series SML WRLD, he is shopping for more interesting spaces to renovate and add to his luxury rental-apartment business, which he also runs with his wife.
