Kate Normington is a South African actress, singer and cabaret artist best known for her work in musical theatre, notably in Nunsense, Sweeney Todd and Hair.
Kate studied speech and Drama at Wits University.
She won the Vita award for Excellence in Comedy and the Fleur de Cap award for best actress for her role as Sister Mary Amnesia in Nunsense.
Kate has played Joanna in Sweeney Todd, Nikki in Sweet Charity, Josephine in Romance Romance, Josephine in HMS Pinafore, Guinevere in Camelot, Eliza in My Fair Lady, and Janet in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, in 1993.
Other roles include Sandy in Grease, Sheila in the Civic's production of Hair and Irene in Pact's production of Crazy for You.
She understudied and performed the role of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, Adelphi Theatre in London's West End in 1995; Rose Vibert in the Basingstoke production of Aspects of Love at the Haymarket, England, in 1996; Tell me on a Sunday at the Sound Stage, 1997; The Baker's Wife in Sondheim's Into the Woods in Leicester; Grace Farrell in Paul Elliot's Annie on the West End, Victoria Theatre.
Kate has performed a number of jingles and voice overs for radio and television in South Africa and has a debut album out entitled Mother's Daughter.
In October 2008 she began playing the role of Lizzie in the SABC2 comedy series On the Couch.
She made an appearance as Shirley in the second season of the SABC1 drama series Society 2, in 2010.
