Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp (née Afrika) is a South African radio and television presenter and actress best known for co-presenting the weekend morning show on 5FM, and later for presenting shows on 94.5FM.
Born and raised in Cape Town, Elana matriculated from Parow High School in 1997. She enrolled at Stellenbosch University to do a business degree but changed her course at the last minute to a performing arts degree (B.Dram), majoring in Drama and Theatre.
Her university degree was cut short when she was offered a presenting job for M-Net in 2001. That same year she moved to Gauteng.
Later in 2001 she landed her first radio job as a presenter on Jacaranda 94.2, which lasted until 2004.
She has presented numerous shows on kykNET, M-Net, GO, SABC Africa and SuperSport and hosted a national weekend radio slot on 5FM. She also works behind the camera, producing shows and inserts.
From 2001-2007 she co-hosted the Afrikaans entertainment show Jip on kykNET. From August to December, 2007, she hosted GO Extra Survivor and GO Extra Idols, companion shows to the local versions of Survivor and Idols.
Also in 2007, she played the role of Elana in the comedy film Footskating 101.
She was the co-host (with Ed Jordan) of the M-Net reality makeover television series I Wanna Be, since May 2009. In 2011 she moved back to Cape Town and married media personality Ian Bredenkamp in early 2013.
In July 2013 she joined the SABC3 breakfast programme Expresso as a co-host and in 2014 hosted the Mzansi Magic reality series The Road to Miss South Africa; and the 2014 Miss South Africa pageant.
