Bio
Robert Fridjhon (born 1968) is a South African actor, director, comedian and playwright who has been featured in numerous television series including Isidingo, Egoli and Erfsondes.
He also had a starring role as security officer Doug Tremaine in the SABC3 sitcom Safe as Hauser's, in 2013.
Having worked with many of South Africa's big name brands and productions houses, his range of experience includes industrial theatre, live product launches, corporate videos, MC scripts, training videos, documentaries and original theatrical works.
As either an actor, writer or director, he has been involved in dozens of professional stage productions, from Shakespeare to musical theatre, including Modern Orthodox, It's a Dad Thing, Pythonesque, Travels with my Aunt, Boeing Boeing and Perfect Wedding, all for Pieter Toerien Productions.
Other theatrical works include Judas Iscariot in The Passion (Baxter Theatre, CT), Romeo in Romeo & Juliet (CAPAB), Lorenzo in The Merchant Of Venice (CAPAB - Maynardville Open Air Theatre), Demetrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream (NAPC, Playhouse, DBN), The Waiter in Beyond Therapy (PACT), Jud Fry in Oklahoma! (National Tour) and Schmendiman in Picasso At The Lapin Agile (Civic Theatre, JHB).
He also played Ross Gardner in Visiting Mister Green (Pieter Toerien Productions), Geoffrey Jackson in Absurd Person Singular (Pieter Toerien Productions), Herschell Klein in Modern Orthodox (Pieter Toerien Productions), Guy in Some Girls (Liberty Theatre, JHB), Major Metcalf in The Mousetrap (Pieter Toerien Productions) and Henry in Funny Business (Pieter Toerien Productions).
His play Twitch debuted at the Elizabeth Sneddon theatre in February 2013.
His film and television credits include Vance in African Skies (Atlantis Films, Canadian TV), Hendrix in Marie s'en va t-en Guerre (Dune Films, International French Feature), SA Police Guard in Kickboxer 5 - Redemption (King's Road Entertainment), Martin in Pride Of Africa (British TV Series) and Frank Claeys in Shake Hands With The Devil (Barna-Apler Productions & Halifax Film Company, International Feature).
Other television series he has guest starred in include Suburban Bliss, Fishy Feshuns and the miniseries Rhodes.
Robert is also a seasoned stand-up comedian. With well over a thousand gigs to his credit, he has enjoyed great success locally and in some of Londons toughest comedy clubs, where his unique brand of humour won him acclaim as well as an invitation to perform on the Main Stage at the Smirnoff International Comedy Festival.
Wildlife and nature conservation have always been Roberts other great passions. He has worked for FreeMe Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, and was recently involved in a lion rehabilitation program at The Rhino And Lion Park in Krugersdorp, under the mentorship of Ed Hern.
He is the son of actor Anthony Fridjhon.
