Steve Carell is an American Golden Globe-winning and Emmy-nominated actor and writer, best known for his role as Michael Scott on the US adaptation of The Office, as well as for the title role in the movie The 40-Year Old Virgin.
Carell received the 2006 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Comedy for his portrayal of Michael Scott, the pompous and deluded boss in The Office.
Carell, along with co-writer Judd Apatow, also received a Writer's Guild of America nomination for Best Original Screenplay for the summer box-office hit The 40-Year-Old Virgin from Universal Pictures.
The phenomenal success of the movie, which was honoured as Best Comedy Film by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, as well as simultaneously chosen as one of the Top Ten movies of 2005 by the American Film Institute, put Carell firmly on the comedy map.
Virgin was #1 at the box office two weekends in a row and grossed over $170-million dollars worldwide, as well as opening at #1 in Canada, the United Kingdom as well as ten other international countries.

He has wrapped production on Evan Almighty, which is a segue from Bruce Almighty, in which he reprises his role of Evan Baxter who is anointed by God this time around.
Upon wrap of Evan Almighty, Carell begins principal photography on Dan in Real Life, directed by Peter Hedges for Disney.
Carell honed his comic talents as a regular correspondent on The Daily Show and portrayed Ellie's passive-aggressive ex-boyfriend Edgar on the comedy Watching Ellie.
He also was a series regular in Over the Top with Tim Curry and Annie Potts and was a writer and performer on The Dana Carvey Show.
Born in Concord, Massachusetts, Carell currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and their two children.
