Robert Iler is an American actor best known for his role as Anthony "A.J." Soprano, Jr. in the television drama series The Sopranos.
In 2006 he lent his voice to the video game The Sopranos: Road to Respect, and appeared in an HBO Special about the making of the game.
Iler's show business career began at the age of six, when he was discovered by his manager, Jeff Mitchell of J. Mitchell Management, walking down the street in Manhattan with his father. He was immediately hired to appear in a commercial for Pizza Hut.
In 1999 he landed a role in the movie The Tic Code, shortly before getting his big break on The Sopranos.
In 2002 he acted in the movie Tadpole and the following year had a role as a bully in the film Daredevil.
In 2004 he made guest appearances on the television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and The Dead Zone.
On July 4, 2001, when Iler was 16 years old, he and three friends were arrested on Manhattan's Upper East Side for robbing two Brazilian teenage tourists of $40, threatening them with their lives.
Iler was charged with second degree robbery as well as marijuana possession, which carried up to 15 years in prison. The three oldest were indicted on August 3 and plead not guilty on August 29.
On April 23, 2002, Iler and one of his accomplices agreed to plead guilty to a lesser misdemeanour and Iler was sentenced to three years probation.
