Bio
Ian Anthony Dale is an American actor best known for his starring roles in two short-lived television series: Surface (2005-2006) and Daybreak (2006-2007).
He is also known for his recurring role on the seventh season Charmed, as Avatar Gamma (2004-2005).
He currently stars as Simon Lee, a government operative with mysterious ties to Sophia (Laura Innes), in the conspiracy thriller television series The Event, since 2010.
He has also appeared on shows such as Las Vegas, JAG, Angel, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Criminal Minds and Bones, and in 2007 appeared in 24 as the minor (but key) character Zhou.
Born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, he attended school in Madison, Wisconsin. He is half Japanese, half French-English.
The son of an Olympic hockey player, Dale once dreamed of a career in professional sports. After a debilitating injury in high school threatened that dream, he re-focused his energy from the baseball field to the stage.
He graduated from high school with best actor honours and continued to perfect his craft at the University of Wisconsin, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in film.
Upon graduation, Dale headed to Los Angeles, where he worked for two years as a set builder, and soon after began pursuing acting roles.
His screen acting debut was in the 2002 episode of Fastlane entitled Mighty Blue (Season 1, Episode 8). He followed that up with a role in the made-for-TV movie The Break (2003), and in the same year made guest appearances on CSI, Angel and JAG.
Dale's television credits include roles on Criminal Minds, Trauma, Cold Case and all three shows in the CSI franchise. His feature film credits include The Hangover, Tekken, The Bucket List, and Mr. 3000.
When not acting, Dale enjoys golfing, hiking, and designing and building custom furniture. Dale currently resides in Los Angeles.
