Bio

Thembi Seete is a South African kwaito star, television presenter and actress best known as one of the members of the kwaito supergroup Boom Shaka, from 1994-2000.

After the band broke up Seete simultaneously launched a solo music career and a career in acting.

She played a minor role in the 2000 feature film Hijack Stories, but first made her mark in the hard-hitting SABC1 drama series Yizo Yizo. She also sang the popular track Sure Ntombazana for the soundtrack to Yizo Yizo 2, which helped launch her solo music career.

Seete played the role of Lerato in the first two seasons of the SABC1 drama series Gaz'lam, from 2002-2004, and made a final guest appearance in the show's third season premiere, entitled "Ghosts of the Past", which aired on 18 February 2005.

In 2005 she played the role of Pumla in the South African made-for-TV movie Crossing the Line, written and directed by Brian Tilley.

The following year she landed the leading role of Nina Moloi in the SABC1 soccer drama series Zone 14, which she continued to play for four seasons.

In January 2006 she played the guest starring role of Lily, a young kwaito legend making a comeback who is brutally murdered, in an episode of the SABC1 drama series Mtunzini.com. The title of the episode was "Lily" (Season 1, Episode 3).

She also presented the SABC1 music dance show Jika Majika for the first 10 seasons, from 2006-2012.

In 2012 Thembi was one of the seven choirmasters for the Mzansi Magic reality competition Clash of the Choirs South Africa, which aired in 2013. She mentored the choirs from the Free State.

In 2013 she was the host of the Mzansi Magic/Mzansi Wethu game show Nguwe Na?, in which singles compete for a chance to win a date. She hosted the second season in 2014 as well.

She was also a guest presenter at the 6th annual Crown Gospel Music Awards, which aired live for the first time on SABC2 on Sunday 17 November, 2013.

In 2015 she joins e.tv soapie Rhythm City as Bongi, a drug addicted former superstar who has hit rock bottom and lost everything. She makes her debut on 30 July.
