Bio

Boris Kodjoe is an Austrian-born American actor best known for his role as Damon Carter in the television drama series Soul Food, from 2000-2004, which garnered him three NAACP Award nominations.

Kodjoe also starred in the short-lived sitcom Second Time Around (2004-2005) with wife Nicole Ari Parker, appearing in 13 episodes.

He also starred as Steven Bloom, a CIA spy living a double life, in the American thriller series Undercovers, in 2010.

Born in Vienna, Austria and raised in Germany, Kodjoe was previously named one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World by People magazine and has amassed an impressive list of film and television credits.

He had a three-episode recurring role in Boston Public, as Coach Derek Williams (2003) and a two-episode role in Street Time in the same year.

He has made guest appearances on The Steve Harvey Show, For Your Love, All of Us, Eve, Crossing Jordan, Women's Murder Club and Nip/Tuck.

He played the role of David Taylor, the wayward son of Pastor Fred Taylor in the October 2005 film The Gospel.

Among his feature film credits are Spike Lee's Love and Basketball; Brown Sugar, in which he appeared alongside Taye Diggs and Queen Latifah; The Gospel; Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion; All About Us and Starship Troopers 3: Marauder

He also appeared opposite Bruce Willis in the action thriller Surrogates and in the Paul Anderson-directed thriller Resident Evil: Afterlife, in 2010.

In 2009, he made his Broadway debut in the Tennessee Williams classic Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, which included a cast that featured James Earl Jones, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose and Giancarlo Esposito.

Prior to launching his acting career, he modeled at the Ford Modeling agency, where he was involved in such campaigns as Ralph Lauren, Perry Ellis, Yves Saint Laurent and The Gap. Given his fashion background, he started up the clothing company ALFA with his brother Patrick.

Kodjoe's main personal interest is to raise funds for Sophie's Voice Foundation, which he and his wife started in honour of their daughter, Sophie, who was diagnosed with spina bifida at birth.

Kodjoe's mother is a German psychologist from Germany and his father a Jamaican/German physician from Ghana.

Fluent in German, French, English and some Spanish, Kodjoe aspired to be a professional tennis player. A back injury ended his tennis aspirations; however, he was quickly discovered for modeling and soon after fell into acting.

On June 20, 2004, Kodjoe and his Soul Food co-star, Nicole Ari Parker, became engaged. Their first child, Sophie Tei-Naaki Lee Kodjoe, was born on March 5, 2005.

The two later married on May 21, 2005 in Gundelfingen, Germany. Their second child, a boy named Nicolas Neruda Kodjoe, was born October 31, 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia.

In 2013 he starred as a fictional version of himself in the comedy-improv reality television parody series Real Husbands of Hollywood.
