Sello Sebotsane is a South African actor best known for his starring role as Philane, a sensitive rugby player, in the SABC2 sitcom Stokvel, from 2006-2012.

He also starred as Bhekumuzinsizwe "The General" Letswalo, an incompetent security guard stuck in the struggle years, in the SABC2 sitcom Home Sweet Home, in 2011.

He joined the cast of the SABC2 parliamentary drama series 90 Plein Street in 2011, in the starring role of George Motha.

He also had a two-episode recurring role as Jacob in the SABC3 drama series One Way, in 2006. In 2007 Sebotsane starred in the SABC2 Afrikaans dramedy Andries Plak, which premiered in April.

From April to May 2008, Sello played the role of Progress, the title character's righthand man, in the six-part M-Net comedy series Van der Walt's Fault.

Other television series he has acted in include Erfsondes, The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, CI5: The New Professionals, Isidingo, Backstage, Scoop Schoombie, SOS, Madam and Eve, Hidden City, Egoli and Safe as Hauser's.

Sello has also acted in a number of feature films including Jock of the Bushveld, Panic Mechanic, Tarzan and Ernest Goes to Africa.

His theatre resume includes such productions as Scribble at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre (directed by Jervis Pennington), Happy Natives at the Grahamstown Arts Festival (for which he received the Naledi Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actor) and the Market Theatre productions of Cold Stone Jug, Sophiatown, Gugi Mzimba: The Spirit of Gerald Sekoto and The Amen Corner.

Sello received a National Diploma in Speech and Drama from the University of Tshwane. He is fluent in English and Tswana.

Born in Tshwane, he currently resides in Johannesburg. He was married to actress and fashion designed Shoki Sebotsane. They have a daughter, Oratile Kutlwano Sebotsane.
