Bio
Zinzile Zungu is a South African actress, voice artist and presenter best known for her continuity presenting on SABC3. She became a face of the channel on Monday, 30 July 2007 when SABC3 re-launched a new brand image.
She is also known for playing the title role, Nomzamo, in the SABC1 sitcom of the same name. She played the role for the first season but was replaced by Ayanda Ngubane from the second season on.
Zungu was born in Durban where her television career began. She started off at the age of 16 as a regional presenter for the e.tv children’s show Craze. She than did corporate videos as well as voiceover work for Craze and various radio station in Durban.
She moved to Johannesburg to attend the South African School of Motion Picture and Live Performance where she performed in a number of theatre shows, including Pata Pata at the Civic Theatre in Johannesburg and the musical Le Shebeen (directed by Deon Opperman), which toured to the Grahamstown Festival of the Arts and was aired on SABC2.
Zungu has a BA in Dramatic Arts from The African Film and Drama Academy as well as in PR Management.
Her first TV role was in a movie called Tramlines, before she landed her first big role in the SAFTA award-winning sitcom Nomzamo. She also appeared in the SABC3 soapie Isidingo.
From there Zungu officially became the face of SABC3 when it re-launched a new brand image. During that period she Mc’d many gigs such as SA Fashion Week, the launch of the SABC3 drama series The Lab, the J&B Met and Durban July best dressed competition for two years. She was also SABC3's ambassador for the Phenomenal Woman campaign and tour.
Zungu is also the owner of an artist management company, Star Quality.
In 2010 Zinzile joined the cast of the e.tv soapie Scandal! in the role of Thokozile, a rural girl looking to get ahead in the big city.
In singing her vocal range is alto and she is fluent in Zulu and English.
