Bio

Brett Goldin (21 October, 1977 - 16 April, 2006) was an up-and-coming South African theatre and film actor whose life was cut short when he and a friend, fashion designer Richard Bloom, were murdered execution-style in Mowbray, Cape Town, on Sunday 16 April, 2006.

Goldin and Bloom had left a party in Camps Bay on Sunday night and their naked bodies were found lying face down under some trees next to the Klipfontein offramp of the M5 highway the next morning.

Five Athlone men in their early 20s were arrested after Camps Bay police stopped a car that was driving recklessly. One of the occupants of the car was in possession of Goldin's credit card.

After questioning by police the three men named their two accomplices and accompanied police to the crime scene, where they pointed out the bodies.

Goldin was best known for co-creating and starring in the comedy series Crazy Monkey on MTV, which he co-created.

Crazy Monkey led to a feature film, Straight Outta Benoni, which had box office success in South Africa.

Goldin also appeared in the Canadian/South African sci-fi series Charlie Jade, in the role of Terry Schachter.

Goldin's murder was the subject of the first episode of the M-Net docu-drama Crimes Uncovered, in 2012.
