Mario Lopez is an American actor and author best known for his role as Army brat A.C. Slater on the television sitcom Saved by the Bell (1989-1993) and its spin-off, Saved by the Bell: The College Years, from 1993-1994.
He is currently the host of the MTV dance reality competition Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew, since 2008.
In 2012 he joined The X Factor as co-host, along with Khloé Kardashian.
Born in San Diego, California, Mario began his career as the younger brother on the 1980s TV series A.K.A. Pablo and became well known to TV audiences through his roles on Saved by the Bell and Pacific Blue.
He brought the bachelor's point of view to the talk show The Other Half, an all-male version of The View, and helped bridge the gap between sports and entertainment on ESPN Hollywood.
He portrayed Olympic diving champion Greg Louganis in the made-for-TV movie Breaking the Surface: The Greg Louganis Story and appeared in such films as Colors, Depraved, Eastside and Outta Time.
In 2006 he was the runner-up on the third season of the reality show Dancing with the Stars, after which he went on to host the weekend edition of Extra and became a regular fixture on the daily show.
In 2007, he starred in the highest-rated ABC Family original movie in history, Holiday in Handcuffs, and starred opposite Mark Consuelos in the made-for-TV movie Husband for Hire.
In 2008, Mario starred opposite Christina Milian in the CW half-hour comedy C, and released his first self-penned fitness book.
In 2010 he was the subject of a VH1 reality series, Mario Lopez: Saved By the Baby, which followed him and his girlfriend Courtney Mazza as they prepared to become parents.
