The fifth season of Idols officially launches next week with the start of auditions in Cape Town.
Here's what's going down and how you can enter:
When and where?The auditions launch at the River Club in Observatory on
Wednesday, 17 December 2008 and run through until
Friday, 19 December 2008.Even though they run for three days, you have to register on the 17th otherwise you won't be able to audition. The extra two days are to ensure that as many people as possible get to audition and also include the callbacks.
Auditions are on on a first-come-first-serve basis - doors open at
8am
.Who can enter?The auditions are open to all South African citizens between the ages of 16 and 30, on or before 17th December.
Contestants under the age of 18 have to be accompanied by a legal guardian.
How to registerAll registration will happening at the River Club - all you need to take with you is your
ID book - and a musical instrument if you want to use it as accompaniment.
Idols ScoutsFor the four days before the auditions open the Idols crew are spending time scouting Cape Town's beaches for singers to send to the auditions - in between running other competitions.
You can look out for M-Net's camera crews at special Idols stages at these beaches between 10am and 4pm:
Saturday, 13 December - The Strand
Sunday, 14 December - Muizenberg
Monday, 15 December - Blouberg
Tuesday, 16 December - Camps Bay
Jump The Que
There's also a competition that will allow you jump the que on the 17th if you win. You'll be able to find out more about this on the
Idols website in the upcoming days.
