Why Redi Direko Left eNews

Last week Tuesday (11 May) journalist Nikiwe Bikitsha took over from Redi Direko as the co-anchor of the eNews Channel's Primetime news bulletin (weeknights between 18h00 and 21h00).

Redi, who also hosts a daily show on 702 and 567 Cape Talk, has been anchoring the news alongside Jeremy Maggs since the launch of the channel in July last year.

"I left because of a heavy work load, " she told TVSA last week. "It had become increasingly difficult to juggle my two jobs and everything else that I have to do in between.

"It was a very difficult decision because I love current affairs, I love television and being part of the eNews channel was a great experience and opportunity. But working all the time does affect one’s quality of life and I needed to achieve a comfortable balance and the best way to do that was to scale down."

It seems R's successor may find herself in a similar dilemma. Nikiwe is currently completing her honours degree in journalism at Wits, was John Perlman’s co-anchor on the AM Live show on SAFM and writes as a social commentator for Mail and Guardian.

On joining the channel, she says, "“I am passionate about news and this passion is fuelled by understanding why the world works the way it does. I am always probing and want to get to the bottom of a story.”

Our advice to N: watch out - too much probing may send you over the edge like R!

Eish, these "current affairs" women and the 101 hats they wear...you might find yourself fainting at a Pick n Pay qeue.On the other hand, this might explain Redi's tug-o-war with that Floyd character.

<<I SMELL a story/expose there Tashi! Maybe you must call Ms Patta!>> I know Shuga, I get the feeling that Ms. Patta is not a very nice boss to work for. I think I'd be scared to have her as my boss. She doesn't seem like she has a "nice" bone in her body. But then again thats just me..

..And why must she hog the spotlight on big events and not give her anchors the shine they deserve.. haish Debra!

TVSA please please please, get an interview with Debra, maybe we are just judging her. Give her a platform to defend herself..

With Rural Development and Land Reform will the development of rural areas rich the standard of our so called township.

It is a good initiation that raises to many Q?

Will the department work alone in this rural developing tusk as this needs coordination of all relevent DPT

Developing rurals means uplifting all the basic Social, Economic and Political which includes asserts such as Hospitals, Communications, Transportation and other service needed by a Citizen of the Republic of SA who casted his/her vote with the hope of witnessing a normal life

What do think guyz ???????
