Date With Destiny Bumped From Prime

Belinda Silbert's 'psychic' dating show Your Date with Destiny on e.tv has been unceremoniously booted from e.tv's primetime lineup (Tuesdays at 21h00) to Saturday afternoons at 13h00, with immediate effect.

So immediate, in fact, it won't even be on tonight (Tuesday 28 July) - it's been replaced by a rerun of Nicky Greenwall's celebrity documentary series Behind the Name, which last aired in 2007.

Although no official statement has been issued by e.tv as to why the show was dropped from primetime, there's usually only one reason: poor ratings.

This was confirmed to TVSA by a channel source who told us the show had suffered in the ratings primarily because of the soccer on SABC1, including the Confederations Cup and the Vodacom Challenge.

The decision was made to relocate Your Date with Destiny to Saturday afternoons in order for it to "grow a viewership".

What's strange about the whole affair is that e.tv decided to air the show in primetime in the first place. Surely Belinda's crystal ball would have foreseen poor ratings? Surely she warned e.tv about the impending disaster?

Mind you - she wouldn't even have needed her crystal ball. If you can talk to dead people - a highly complex procedure involving a complete restructuring of the laws of time, space and physics - surely a simple little thing like foreseeing TV ratings would be a piece of cake for a pro like Belinda?

Maybe it doesn't work like that. Psychic powers can just be so damn temperamental, you know.

The long and short of it is that Belinda now has a Date with Saturday. You do too, if you're one of the five people who have been faithfully watching the show until now.

The scheduling changes, in a nutshell, are as follows:

Tuesdays, 21h00: Behind the Name (reb)
Saturdays, 13h00: Your Date with Destiny (the remaining 7 episodes)

No, that’s not the reason. It did not bring in the revenue. Look at the e-news channel and the viewership is under a million and yet they are able to beat sabc1 with revenues. That is what happens when you run a private institution; bottom line is what counts, something which the sabc as a whole is yet to learn.

Agree Positivity, they tested the water with Wrestling shows and they found that the viewers like it so much now they have it every day of the week, well almost everyday, with Thursday being the exception.

The show obviously had poor ratings...i hav no idea wat "realist" is talkin abt. Ratings and Revenue are directly proportional. A million viewers is actually not that bad, check out the ratings and u'll notice that a lot of regular programs have less than a million viewers. I think the show would hav been lucky to reach 100 000 viewers. It was totally pathetic

Why don't people leave Belinda Silbert alone. We all have different beliefs. Why did  ETV  agree to do the show. She means no harm to anybody i have had readings done by Belinda, she is a lovely person, kind and sincere and EXTREMELY ACCURATE.  Let me tell you something i have been to many other people for readings and no one matched up to her readings. Why don,t we worry about Peace, crime etc rather than i person whom some of the public do not like. The choice is yours to watch or not to watch. I know i will carry on watching her programme.

To all those who posted such negative comments including the writer who is ill informed about how being psychic actually works,  you have no idea what it is to be psychic and it goes a lot further than contacting those who have crossed over.  It has nothing to do with space or time or physics, it has everything to do with VIBRATION.  This show is about bringing people together in a way never done before, on a psychic level.  Belinda is the most accurate psychic in the world, with gifts that go far beyond the normal.  I won't miss an episode and value the information far beyond WWE or any other negative media broadcasting.  Belinda has integrity and courage and is compassionate and kind.  Her readings are extremely accurate and helpful and she deserves better than the negativity printed on this page.  Belinda I am a huge FAN.

The problem is that Belinda has given the psychic industry a bad name by the way the show was choreographed and unfortunately by Belinda's very appearance of too much hideous makeup, dresses far too short and over-dyed hair. Because if you go and see Belinda in the real, in the flesh, she is nothing like her TV persona.
Generally, us people who believe in the "hereafter" are called crack pots, and this show has put nails in our coffins!  What a shame!
Belinda, you need to rectify the damage done. Certainly, people will never forget your name. A marketing ploy?

Khwezi.
Ratings and Revenue are directly proportional.
It is true to a certain extend but not entirely true what you are saying. SABC1 prime time news has over 3 million viewership at any given time and ETV prime time news less than a million viewership and yet they outsmart SABC1 in terms of advertising revenues.

You know why? The quality of viewership, what I mean by that is that those with disposable income will watch the ETV news compared with SABC1.

Remember Yizo Yizo show had big ratings and yet failed to attract advertisers. You know why? The quality of viewership.

Ya i totally agree with u realist on that matter but the reason i said directly proportional is that the more the viewers, the more the revenue. If etv has the same quality viewers watchn at that time, they'd rather have more viewers by gettin another show...even if they still outsmart the sabc...more is still better so i think it was still better for them to get another show. Remember i said directly proportional and not More viewers is more revenue. There's a big difference between the two. But i get ur point still

There are 30 Human Rights in our Constitution and International. However their are
a percentage of people who will violate those Human Rights and who want to controle other people or harm them. These remarks about Belinda on "date with destiny" is a stellar example. I suggest you  you have a look at these Human Rights. After all in the end it is about money and controle.
It is a violation of Human Rights to make these remarks which is based on assumptions and not fact.

Im thankful that this show was booted.

This show did not succeed to attract a large amount of viewers for a number of reasons, yet in my mind it all boils down to two things...a lack of preparation and a lack of capital.

Preparation: The show seemed to have no flow, what was to happen next was what sprang into the hostesses mind. Oh my!, don't even go to the match making! She used NO psychic ability...if one looked and listened carefully all she did was ask leading questions and judge people on their overall appearance...any Tom, Dick or Harry could have done that. I also agree totally that the set was putrid! How much did that couch cost?! And what was up with the lighting? Also the distance between the stage and the audience was too much making the set seem cold instead of cozy and inviting! What a botched job! Belinda's outfits were the biggest shock to me! It reeked of cheap bargain stores where you can find cheap shoes, plastic flowers and yo yo's all in one place! Her make up...no point even saying anything, my gran did her make up better when she was eighty! This lady seemed to have never have watch a talk/psychic/medium show before! One episode of John Edwards would have done her a world of good (as well a little training!).

But as I've said before it all came down to two things preparation and capital. One cannot be well prepared if there is no capital,
Capital: All the things I've mentioned before and things I forgot to, have their root in a low budget. If more capital was pumped into the show, preparation would have been thourough and not non-existent and then perhaps the end product would have been quality and not Crap.

Stoutgat you are right....I'm thankful the show was booted as well!!!!!!
