Belinda Silbert's 'psychic' dating show
Your Date with Destiny on e.tv has been unceremoniously booted from e.tv's primetime lineup (Tuesdays at 21h00) to Saturday afternoons at 13h00, with immediate effect.
So immediate, in fact, it won't even be on tonight (Tuesday 28 July) - it's been replaced by a rerun of
Nicky Greenwall's celebrity documentary series
Behind the Name, which last aired in 2007.
Although no official statement has been issued by e.tv as to why the show was dropped from primetime, there's usually only one reason: poor ratings.
This was confirmed to TVSA by a channel source who told us the show had suffered in the ratings primarily because of the soccer on SABC1, including the Confederations Cup and the Vodacom Challenge.
The decision was made to relocate Your Date with Destiny to Saturday afternoons in order for it to "grow a viewership".
What's strange about the whole affair is that e.tv decided to air the show in primetime in the first place. Surely Belinda's crystal ball would have foreseen poor ratings? Surely she warned e.tv about the impending disaster?
Mind you - she wouldn't even have needed her crystal ball. If you can talk to dead people - a highly complex procedure involving a complete restructuring of the laws of time, space and physics - surely a simple little thing like foreseeing TV ratings would be a piece of cake for a pro like Belinda?
Maybe it doesn't work like that. Psychic powers can just be so damn temperamental, you know.
The long and short of it is that Belinda now has a Date with Saturday. You do too, if you're one of the five people who have been faithfully watching the show until now.
The scheduling changes, in a nutshell, are as follows:
Tuesdays, 21h00: Behind the Name (reb)
Saturdays, 13h00: Your Date with Destiny (the remaining 7 episodes)
