Az Abrahams was tragically killed on Saturday (21 November) when the car he was travelling in hit a concrete barrier on the N1 highway near Bellville.
According to a SAPA news report, Abrahams was returning home from work when his vehicle hit a barrier and overturned. No other car was present at the scene of the crash.
Abrahams - who recently increased his national profile considerably after starring as Winston Phillips in the SABC1 drama series
Montana - was well known to Capetonians as the host of the Heart Party Beatz show on Heart 104.9 FM.
Az appeared in the sitcoms SOS and Madam & Eve (both on e.tv) and had a leading role in the groundbreaking M-Net mini-series
Innocent Times, in 2008.
He also acted in a number of South African films, including the feature Confessions of a Gambler, the Anant Singh docu-drama More Than Just a Game and the award-winning Dollars and White Pipes.
Police have not yet been able to ascertain what caused the accident, but are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
Az is survived by a son and a daughter.
